Climate Change Education for Sustainable Development

UNESCO Kathmandu in close collaboration with Jeevan Bikas Samaj (JBS) is implementing a project ‘Mobilizing Community Schools as Multipurpose School and resource centre for Climate Change Education‘. The project was started from 9th July 2014. JBS has organized initiating workshop at local level on the climate change education.

Major objective of the project was to support the Mobilizing Community Schools as Multipurpose School and resource centre for Climate Change Education; in particular following objectives were envisioned in project document:Climate1

  1. To re-orient a community school as a lead learning resource center for climate change education within the framework of ESD.
  2. To develop multipurpose school as laboratory for local sustainability, learning center for quality and climate change education, sustainable development and community empowerment.

Major activities carried out by JBS are as following:

  • Formation of Teachers’ Green Committee
  • Formation of Students’ Green club
  • Orientation Program with school family
  • Green Club clean Surrounding
  • Seed bed preparation
  • Seed Sowing of vegetables
  • Plantation of Seedling (vegetable Crops) to the garden
  • Preparation of organic fertilizer
  • Preparing Natural-pesticide
  • Flower Cutting Process (Practical)
